  • Watching this video I rejoiced; there is hope for mankind after all.

  • Thanks for uploading this interview. I don't agree with most of Coyne's responses, but he's clearly a man of great charm and intelligence - a credit to his faith (which given the curious nature of some of his answers, seems unique to him).

  • Great video.

  • This guy is the first christian I have heard discuss what and why they believe that I can actually respect what they believe. That doesn't mean I agree but I do respect his position because he acknowledges facts and doesn't run from them. He also admits where his faith is inconsistent and doesn't try to twist facts of reality to make his religion work.

  • there r some places i was impressed by this guy ... n then some places where i was clearly disappointed ... virgin birth ... seriously ... how can a man of his intelligence seriously believe in virgin birth ...

  • Fascinating interview, the point at the end of video 6 suggests George believes in god because he wants to, not because he necessarily believes much of it is true, he doesnt believe god provides any explanation therefore you can only assume he believes in god because he wants to think someone "up there" loves him and that there is somewhere to go when you die.

Additionally Dawkins clearly holds back from attacking many of his statements, where with other people he may have challenged them

  • *sigh* If only more christians and religous people in general were like him. I would have ALOT more respect for religion then.

  • Tubester4567, I don’t think it’s so black and white. You can certainly accept the morality of Jesus without accepting all the mystery religion nonsense overlaid onto it by the early church. And you can see the Old Testament for what it is – books of their time. What the monotheistic religions need to do is to get their cosmology up to date, and concentrate on a message of love. Unfortunately the god thing gets in the way of this and even causes hatred - as is all too obvious.

  • @tubester4567 pt2 Either we started from adam and eve, or its not true. The reason for Jesus is the original sin of Adam and eve. IF adam/eve isnt true the whole house of cards comes crashing down. The priest cant say " he accepts the virgin birth and the resurrection and the other 99% of the bible is just man's interpretation. If you're going to stand up as a wise figure with a close connection to god and tell people how to live theri lives, you should have better backup than 1% of the bible.

  • This is where Christians are disingenuous. On the one hand the priest accepts there is no proof of god and the bible is largely man's interpretation etc, then once the discussion is over they go straight back to forcing their strict doctrines and beliefs on others and gp back to pretending to know what God wants of us, and what god thinks is good or bad. You cant have it both ways, either the bible is the true word of god and should be followed, or its complete nonsense. Either we started cont

  • Dawkins’ problem is partly a confusion of “God” and “religion”. Coyne nubs this when he says that “God is not a god of explanation primarily”. Religion has much to offer in the realms of morality and social cohesion. Indeed the purest form of Buddhism is a religion without a god, based upon a way of life. Disappointing that Coyne insists on some of the more dubious dogmas of Christianity, because what it needs to do now is to get its dogmas sorted, to concentrate on the message of love.

  • Holy crap (whoops, forgive me god), this video was awesome! Both of the two are very intelligent people and I do certainly not regret wathing this interview.
