I have inly one question concidering your scanner, Is the paging beep built into the scanner or is that a pager going off in the background.

That's my pager going off in the background. I have a channel on my scanner programmed to the pager channel. So you hear the tone first then the pager will activate. I have both my scanner and pager on at the same time.

how do u get such good reception? mine does not function that well inside a structure.

I have to say location for the good reception. The house I stay in is on top of a small hill. We live in a remote area in northeast Arizona on the southwest edge of the Colorado Plateau, with Mesas and valleys. Our repeaters are located on the high points of the plateau so there's good reception at times. Sometimes reception can be bad, especially on a windy day. But my pager and scanner can pick up a general fire page.
