At my residence in south Minneapolis, The Environmental Protection Agency tested our soil and discovered unacceptable levels of arsenic due to pollution from a nearby 1950s pesticide manufacturer. The soil was removed to a depth of 18 inches, and replaced by clean soil. This project documents the process of removing and replacing the soil. It documents the destroyed ecosystem with plant samples, paintings and prints made from impressions of plants. A raised ring of stones in the new space is sown with seeds from the destroyed ecosystem.
