  • sparsely populated area: 500 ft from nearest person or structure. Yep your fine. As always though the FAA regs are open to an agent's/administrator's interpretation. So to be on the safe side never show your N number or your face.

  • Near as I can tell, he didn't bust any FAA regs. It's perfectly legal to fly that low over a sparsely congested area. An empty waterway is an excellent example. The only question would be the roll at the very end. If that was done at less than 1500ft, then it wasn't legal, but it can't easily be proven that he wasn't at 1500ft, so I'd say he's golden :)
