I'm sure some folks think the cat is miserable, and it's possible. But tthe truth is, if you bathe a cat regularly from as early as when it's a kitten, it may very well be perfectly fine with it, or at least not be especially bothered by it, so long as you are gentle, use water that isn't too hot, and be careful not to get soap into the face's face.
It's a lot like bathing a child; They probably don't wanna do it, but they always feel better afterwards.
