@semco72057 Were they documentaries or stylized movies? When a lady returned home and got ready for bed she would change into a slightly larger, less tightened corset to sleep in after her bath hour.

@rathboneee I was looking at some of the movies dealing with the 17th through 19th century where women wore them with the large flared out dresses and they seemed so glad to get out of them.

@semco72057 Back then they wore corsets on average 23 hours a day, seven days a week. In fact, serious tightlacers do so even today. The only times they are out of their corsets are to bathe or exercise, they even sleep in them. A new corset will usually have to be worn for an extended period of time over a couple of weeks for it to mold to your body and become comfortable, and as long as it is not tightened too much, they can feel wonderful. Some describe the feeling like a hug. :]

@thetruemami I always wondered how some can wear those corsets for any length of time out. I can imagine what the women back in the 18th and 19th century felt like in them during a whole day. They must have yearned to get back home where they could take them off.
