This Cable was discovered in the ceiling space of a cool store. It had been faulting like this for a long time before we found it. The original fault was caused by inadequate mechanical protection (eg: conduit) it blew the 16 Amp fuse and then became dangerous when someone replaced the fuse with a 32Amp fuse. The size and length of the cable combined with the over size fuse enabled this fault to continue to burn away at the cable without blowing the fuse. the poly panel was also damaged by the fault. If this fault was left it would have eventually caught fire and burnt the whole place down (about 10,000 SqM of storage facility).
