GMO production results in las pesticides being used. GMO production has allowed for no till production, saving topsoil, improving soil quality. Since yields are lower, organic would destroy the environment as we attempt to double food production to feed the worlds growing population.. Organic production requires more fossil fuel. And has a MUCH higher carbon footprint.

@myndy86 Uuuurk says "I think if u would study agricultural u would understand why GMO isnt bad ", Agriculturists are not health experts, or ecology experts, etc. Agriculture students(like Uuuurk) and professors have the most bias towards GM crops because biotech companies make huge donations to their schools and give grants in their field. So, he admits GM crops use "more pesticides". He says "GMO isnt bad and how it could help organic farming." then says, "pesticide resistent crop is not usefull in organic farming." He says organic needs GM crops to use less fertilizer, but organic already use less fertilizer than conventional and GM!

@aabsc No GMO does not require far higher quantities of pesticides. Most GM crop r however made to be pesticide resistence so farmers can use diffrent and more pesticides. Thats only because Monsanto who makes most pesticides can afford to do the unnesecary high safteytests which is not based on science that r required in producing GMOs so they almost get a monopoly on GM crop. But there are also GM crops which is not based on the use of pesticides rather then qualities.

@aabsc All of EU buys in South american GM food for animals all the time and the animals eat it. It depend what kind of GM crop u would produce to organic farming. Since atleast in EU countries doesent allow pesticides pesticide resistent crop is not usefull in organic farming. However if u would produce GM crop whit other atributes such as a better uptake of nutrition u would get less leaching and u need less fertilizers which is good for the enviroment. GMO is not the opposite of orgn

@Uuuurk That makes no sense. GMO is bad for everyone, it destroys the environment and destroys the health of those who eat GMO food. GMO's require far higher quantities of pesticides than non GMO foods. GMOs in animal studies cause organ failure, cancer, infertility, and premature death. Animals also refuse to eat GMO foods so they know that it's not safe to eat. It makes no sense to say it can help organic farming, GMO is the extreme opposite of organic, you can't get any less organic than GMO,

@aabsc Only on the internet can ppl whit no knowledge at all about what they r talking about spread theire ideas to others. Im not saying everything on the net is wrong but u shouldent buy everything just because some ppl claim to be enviromentalists.

I think if u would study agricultural u would understand why GMO isnt bad and how it could help organic farming. The arguments against GMO r rather arguments against monsanto then GMO.

@Uuuurk Everything on TV, newspapers, etc is paid for by the advertising and therefor a biased source that lies for their profits. Only the internet is uncensored and allows the truth to come out, even though it's also loaded with paid for lies. Only on the internet and books can you find honest truth, if you believe the nonsense they tell you on TV it will literally cost you your life.

@nerdymom2 probably 70% of products in grocery stores and nearly as much in natural health food stores contain GMOs, Don't forget that corn, soy, canola and others are almost always GMO when not organic and even the organic has minor contamination. Look at how many products have non organic corn, soy or canola in the health food store and you start to see it's loaded with GMOs there too.
