Tokyo landscape shot with a Sanyo Xacti HD1000 while in the Highway. In fact the quality of encoding in YouTube is pretty bad compared to the image recorded on camera. You can check my website at http://www.bleepsblops.com for the high quality HD1000 movie files.

  • Wow big difference when I clicked on HD. Before that it was very blurry/fuzzy. On other videos the quality isnt blurry without hd then when i click hd mode its only a tad better. Wonder why yours is so bad in regular mode.

  • I think it is because I uploaded the video before youtube had implemented their HD stream, and their low-res encoding as well... but it is just a guess.

  • Thanks for uploading the video. I bought my gf the smaller HD700 and was pondering getting a HD1000 for myself since I saw it marked it down to like 20,000(!!!) now and I think this might have convinced me.

    Cheers and happy shooting!

  • 20,000 is indeed a bargain. Over the years I noticed the focus is the main issue with the HD1000 but as long as you work with the "lock focus" function everything turns out fine.

  • Video looks very nice, even on Youtube. The focus is hunting a bit, but considering you're filming out of a window where the focus distance is constantly changing, it's not a huge problem. Apparently the HD1010 improves on the auto-focusing - but the HD1000 is cheaper now... decisions, decisions...

  • Thanks for your comment.

You are right about the auto-focus. It can be sometimes frustrating, what made me learn how to use the focus lock and manual focus for more intricate shots -- a minor thing that can be easily overlooked if you think about price x quality.

  • thank you for posting this. i was debating this camera but your post made me realize i need to buy this.

  • Beautiful!

  • Is there any difference between the HD1000 and the HD1010, by exemple the sensor? ccd/cmos?

  • So this video is with the rode videomic installed, do you not find it very cumbersome on such a small camera?

    Are there any other alternatives?

  • its identical to the svp t-500
