  • This is VERY outdated articulation style -- it almost reminds me of the old dupre-widor editions of Bach. We really DON'T need to have those obvious slurrings from off-beats to down-beats any more.

Some finger/foot slops here and there too. Oh well, it's not an easy fugue.

  • Next time I decide to sit down and play a pipe organ I'll keep this in mind.

Oh....wait......I'm not the organist playing. You know what; I'm not an organist at all, so I don't really care. :)

  • God, I hope I never get so jaded and pretentious that I can't simply enjoy something that someone took the time to share in good faith.

Just because you know more than other people about the mechanics of music doesn't mean you have to be so insufferably arrogant and disdainful. If you don't like the offering, don't partake of it and move on. You who criticise so freely pretend you are educating others, but your tone is almost always snotty and pretentious.

  • Stmick is correct. Some pedal notes slurred together should be separated. (Usually I am complaining about everyone separating all pedal notes!) Difficult to hear in this recording.

  • is this the chapel at duke university.....and it was played but it should go a little faster

  • I couldn't agree with you more! For those of us "untrained" organ listeners, it is nice to just listen and enjoy. What a blessing to be able to sit here at home and enjoy the concert. :)

  • A lot of technical comments, criticisms and opinions on YouTube often sound like a Niles and Frasier Crane conversation. Sometimes it's nice to just listen to the music with that non-analytical part of the brain that becomes one with it.

  • A little slow.

Pedal hardly discernable at the beginning.

    (Microphone placement?)

    What happened at 2:24 ??

    Transition could be much better.

    3:14 also awkward and strange.

    Listen to Helmut Walcha's recording.

Thank you, moller, for this recording and organ stop list.

Wish the pedal had a 32' stop.

  • yes but its nice to hear the fugue "grow" which allows the internal dyanamics of the fugue to be exposed. Sometimes this can be lost at a faster tempo. Argee that the registration is a little eccentric in the central systems though.

  • Keep the temp steady, my dear.
