Get eco-friendly with solar power by installing a vent fan in the attic of your home. Driven by the sun, the one-piece unit can improve ventilation and cool your entire house. Installation of a solar-powered attic vent fan can be an inexpensive do-it-yourself project, as you'll see in this video.

  • @nrgsaver I really disagree. These things aren't cheap, and for a reason. Many allow you to disconnect the thermostat so that you can have it run all year round. And in winter, all the excess moisture leads to ice damming in northern climates. By running all the time, it reduces ice damming (good).

The CFM rating is correct. The blade design on attic fans is designed for maximum airflow per given RPM of the motor.

Why do people always underestimate alternative energy?!?!?!?!?!

  • @nrgsaver I just installed my 30 watt...25 year fan... it dropped my temp 30 degrees..and here in Michigan you want them to run in the winter...you want that heat and moisture out of ur attic so you don't get ice damns which i had huge issues with last winter... I suspect my attic fan will solve that problem as well as it solved my heat issue.

  • what about the uk

  • get a 120 volt fan with a thermostat. this solar stuff is pointless and does NOTHING.

  • One of the biggest scams in energy conservation being shown right here. The solar powered attic fans that are out there are under powered, have motors that are not rated for 140F attic air and but have bushings not bearings so they only last a year or two depending on how much sun you have each year. Most don't have thermostats so they run all winter regardless of the need.

The "up to 1200CFM" ratings is correct. Throw one off of a cliff and quite possibly there will be 1200CFM. Junk

  • This vidoe title is correct. Dummies buy solar attic fans

  • You're supposed to use a reciprocating saw, not a circular saw, and the hole should be round not square.
