They knew that their country was violating every ideal it purported to stand for....so they put their lives on the line and attempted to stop a war. From the raw energy of street demonstrations, to interviews with compelling personalities, this is a film about eight courageous Americans who risked their lives, liberty and reputations to avert the Iraq war.

A grandmother who saw her son die at the World Trade centre on September 11th, 2001, struggles to provide him with a legacy of peace. "I felt it was an abomination that he would die trying to save lives, and, as a result of that, tens of thousands would lose their lives," cries Adele Welty.
A soldier who felt his sacrifice was based on a lie. "I was personally hurt to find out that every reason I was told that I had to go to that country, invade that country, go to war with that country was false," asserts John Bruhns. "We were told WMD, we were told an imminent threat to this country, we were told a possible link between Saddam and Al Qaeda ... it seems as if now that doesn't matter any more ... like it's a moot point. That bothers me."

Soldiers and politicians, activists and mothers, transform tragedy into hope, sacrificing everything to speak a truth that was often condemned as treasonous. "When you look at the whole issue of democracy, it's a thin line between being a democracy and being a fascist state; and it's easy to slip over to being a fascist state, when citizens cease to question, when citizens cease to hold accountable," declares Rev. Graylan Hagler.

Continuing in an oft forgotten tradition of American dissent, the eight heroes portrayed in Finding Our Voices remind audiences that citizens are the key elements of a democracy, and that it is our job to change the world.

Ok, so let's see... 9/11 was a LIE, we illegally invaded, and are currently occupying 2 countries, we dismantled their governments, and are continuing to aid in the civil war in Iraq, so we have an excuse to build permanent military bases. They will say it's to stop the civil war, but it's really to set the stage for invading 2 more countries, Iran, and Syria.

Israelis steal land on a daily basis from the Palestinian people and they expect no repercussion from them? I'm talking people go to work, come back and there is an Israeli family in their house. Get real, how would you feel if you had that happen to you? By all rights Israel shouldn't exist, if it weren't for the U.N. it wouldn't. Allow the borders of Israel to expand taking land from neighboring countries? As for Islamic oppression the government is working on oppressing them as I type.

The hunt for Osama was, Why? Because of unsubstantiated rumors? Sam Donaldson reporting the day of 9/11 was already pushing the blame to Bin Laden before the towers even fell. The attempted gas attack on the towers years before was allowed to happen as far as it did by the CIA. One of them spoke out about how he was given live gas containers to bust these "terrorists" on. It was actually reported on by one of the larger networks. Taliban were USA trained in the 80's think about that for a minute

Second off people need to pay attention this is supposed to be a Republic with democratic tendencies. Check the FBI website--Osama is not wanted for 9/11.

While the Iraq war was definitely not called for, the hunt for Osama was. The american profiteering President used the event, one he was forwarned in many ways was going to happen, to justify profiteering. With responsible leadership, the USA can right this wrong, and focus on the extremists. Giving up on Israel will NOT be an option worth considering by any who oppose imposition of Islamic opression on the rest of the world.
