Recorded in February 1928 in Ashland, Kentucky. A rare example of the banjo used in a religious tune. This tune contains references to Enoch (Gen 5:21-24), Paul (Acts 16:25-26), Moses (Exo 3:2) and a strange account out of Ezekiel about walking bones (Ezek 37:1-10), not to mention Eve and "Satan a-tempting me."
Why do you say that? I don't know much about the man, but what i've heard (very little) is great. I don't mind the jesus stuff at all, tho i'm not a christian, i love this stuff, please enlighten me regarding Basomb's politics.... i can't make a judgement having heard so little of his stuff. Thanks from Blighty!
I am a Christian, so its not any mention of Christ that I have issues with. Bascomb was right of right of reactionism, anti-semitic and so on, a product of his times, in short.
