What happens when referees make bad calls

I think every person in Reynolds except the 2 Marist fans present were yelling at the refs for their terrible calls.

ok...what makes this crowd(any crowd for that matter) think what a good call and a bad call is. The fans dont read the rule book and they bitch about a game that the fans played 25 years ago, so they dont know what sports have changed into in this day and age. that is why the officials are trained in what they do and the fans are just fucking idiots!

Noone can ever understand how hard it is to be a ref untill they try it. I used to give ref's a hard time until i reffed an amateur league myself, sometimes ref's just make bad calls, yet they are perhaps the only proffession in wich if they make a (in the bigger picture) very minor mistake people will take a personal grudge against them and get a whole stadium chanting hatred.

Unbelievable ignorance on the part of these fans.

I'm not a big fan of the "ref you suck chants" maybe a few boos or something like that, but do you honestly think for the rest of the game the refs will side with the home team?? Any questionable calls or judgement calls from that point out will tend to go to the visiting team. I know if i were a ref and heard those chants, in the back of my mind i would think "You'll see how bad i suck for the rest of the game"

@atomisten You can't ask a player if he fouled someone and then change ur call based on it, what fucking planet do you live on??? So when the player says I didnt touch him and ur about to change ur mind and then the opposing player says he did touch me what do you do then? Oh and by the way NBA is not basketball anymore is entertainmentball and flopping happens every game and as the rule book says they should be calling T's for it.

@atomisten Wrong. I dont mean to be cruel but you clearly have limited experience with basketball. For example you see a theatrical fall every single time a player draws an offensive foul in the NBA. Every. Single. Time. People do not go flying in the opposite direction when people bump into them.

Not changing calls because of players protestations is not arrogance, you simply cannot let the players rule the game as they are naturally biased. Thats the point. You can however talk to other refs.

@atomisten I dont know what kind of league you reffed, but players DO make theatrical falls, not for fun but to sell a foul. That is a part of basketball and one that any half decent player is very good at.

Referee's can listen to players viewpoints but they cannot change a call that has already been made based on players protestations, to do so would be to instantly lose all authority and control over the game. They can however recieve advice from fellow refs to possibly reverse a call.

@Nmal015 thats not true, only reason fans hate refs is because their petty arrogance of never admitting a bad call, even when videos clearly show in slowmotion that they fucked it up. and if u were in amateur league and think its hard then u are a retard as well, i reffed too in amateur league once as a substitue and i asked the players cooperation and unlike football, the basketballers dont do theatretical falls for fun, and when i i made a bad call i changed it cuz i askopinion opponentplayers

I have attended almost all of the home games of the wolfpack for the last 10 years, and this one ranks near the top. The atmosphere in Reynolds is great, way better than the rbc, wish we still played there in many aspects. The refs sucked this night and toward the end it got ugly with numerous T's being handed out. Ready to see how the Pack performs on the hardwood this season. Go Pack!!!
