http://www.indoorcycleinstructor.com Step by Step video shows how you can encourage your students to carry more load in your Spinning ® - Indoor Cycling Classes. Measuring the temperature of the flywheel at the end of class is a simple way to show the importance of doing as much work as possible by using more resistance. This will also expose the "posers" in your class who waste their time, pretending to turn up their resistance.

  • This isn't going to work unless you're only measuring one burst of activity rather than a whole session. Think about it, you're only really going to get the last 5 mins or so of heat build up measured..

The only real way to measure effort is to measure what level the resistance is at and for how long in conjunction with how many times the fly wheel goes round.

Considering you're an instructor you should really stop doing this.

  • @syrus3k It in fact works very well as a method of measuring work you create, in this case in the form of heat, during an hour long Spinning class. It takes a long time for the mass of the flywheel to change temp. This change in temp (the Delta) is perfect for comparing the amount of work you do from one class to the next.

  • black is non reflective. therefore it insulates. can't get an accurate temperature reading. a bicycle computer can easily be adapted to give a far more accurate reading.

  • OMG! why did I spend 1300 bucks on a powermeter? I could have just measured THE DEL-TUH!

  • indoor?? in Jamaica ?? no
