I admire Greenaway's approach. He may be the only director who has tried, even if his intentions are far removed from Shakespeare's, to create images as rich in complexity as Shakespeare did in language rather than merely competently filming actors saying his lines.

I love this Greenaway's extraordinary delight for the eye adaptation of a classic "make it new". A wonderful kind of "gesamtkunstwerk"-merci

Something so stupid to censure A piece of art like this...i can't accept the veils on the angels of Michelangelo...in the same way i can't understand this stupid kind of moralism...if people are so deviant to treat and look this like a porn...well...better thay find out other kind of thing...
It is a great work...a masterpiece!

I'll admit that I'm not drawn to these complex artistic films, I can still appreciate them for their creativeness and the collective talent put into making them. I was weirdly transfixed on this, and the music was wonderful. That being said, it made my brain feel funny...

Brilliant film. The more I'm an adult so the more and more I love this movie. In 19 years, I was shocked by this movie but In 19 i did not realize the idea of Prospero Books in my mind . Time. Time. Time.

Got to say this is pretty awesome. I bet all the directors on Earth wriggle with envy over this intro.
