@Jangobadass Technically, there is no copyright on Count Dracula and Robin Hood. But as Castelvania's Count is owned by Konami and the game Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is based on the movie of the same name.

Because most of the other recognizable characters were copyrighted. Though Count Dracula and Robin Hood showed up too. And you answered your own question about why he was here in that he had game for the NES (though they used a loophole by drawing him different from the anime and changing character names)
