This video is a tribute to the R32 subway car. This car was built in 1964 by the Budd Company for the New York City Subway system. They continue to provide 45 years of service, but nor for long. All the R32's will be gone by late 2009. R32's were the first cars to made of pure 100% stainless steel. This is why they are lasting longer than their brothers (R38, R40, R42) because they are partly made of carbon steel.

As of 1/25/09, there are only about 230 R32's left out of the original 600.

While the R32's equipment cannot last much longer, their bodies can last a for another long while. If they had another rebuild with new equipment, I'd say the body can take another 30 years.

  • i took the r32 on january 15,2010 it was a Q train and then when i came back it was a B train

  • lucky you. I've been looking for that r32 on the b/q for the longest time.

  • @Maserati7200 you could find r32s on the C

  • @swiiszy I know, but I don't care about the C train, as it's one of the most boring lines in the system.

  • @Maserati7200 NO ITS NOT MY MOM WORKS ON IT AND MY DAD LOST HIS JOB BECAUSE THE 9 TRAIN LEFT OKAY

  • @swiiszy I'm sorry about your dad but just because your mom works on the C doesn't make it a good line. It's all local and all underground and all IND. bleh.

  • i didnt know the r32 ran on the n and q

  • At least the R32's will be in service until 2017...

  • One thing I never understood: Why did MTA get rid of the newer R-40 "Slants" before the R-32's?

  • @kingnyc77 R38's didn't get the stainless steel roof that the R32's got. But they were better in acceleration and stopping speed. They had better brake systems. I always hate when they would couple the R32's with the R38's, since the R32's always felt more inferior to me.

  • @swiiszy ur lucky :( they did that to me. They are making money off of your vid now

  • 4:19 its a good thing they scrapped that car i remember being in that car along time ago and somebody barfed in it eww man it was crazy

  • ill cry if i watch this video one more time

  • i hate how the good music always gets removed for a much crappier song stupid youtubes rules

  • @jonathan4ize the videos uploaded in 2009 though how can u get that at 2010?
