David's Retirement from Delta Air Lines

The retirement flight of a Delta Air Lines Captain that flew for Delta from 1972 - 2007. The Delta Captain started his career on the Boeing 727 and finished his career #2 in seniority in the entire company on the Boeing 767-300ER. The final flight was flown from New York-JFK to Athens Greece-ATH. What's unfortunately not shown is the water cannon salute received after the final landing and taxi to the gates.

Nice video! My dad retires next October from UAL after 35 years of service. Find it funny, he also started on the 727 and is finishing #1 in seniority on the 767-300 out of LAX. I'm hoping I can only have the same career he has had! I'm getting a late start at 22 but am actually working on 3 ratings at the same time right now (IFR, Commercial and Multi) so getting closer to my dream job! Love the video!

@5150dhbiker Thanks for the compliments. Congratulation to your father on such a long and successful career. I also wish you the best of luck in a future aviation career. I once aspired to be a commercial pilot as I always loved the Lockheed 1011 growing up. Since the retirement age has been raised its very likely you may have an even longer career than your father. I actually sent my father the video to see if he knew your father but my dad was based out of NY so he didn't know many Atlanta pilots.

Yeah, this video reminds me of my Dad's last flight as a captain with TWA / AA between LAS and STL back in 2005. There isn't a day that goes by that my Dad isn't glad to be retired.

Thanks for the comments. This is actually a video I made for my father. However, he would very much agree with you about the industry. He was very much looking forward to retirement as the last 6 years of his career quickly became a job. Its sad to see such a great industry become so corporate filled with rules and regulation now.
