  • Liebowitz is the star. Great interpretation in every respect. The only performance in which the big trio is taken at the correct tempo and with the usual stupid cut restored. His Grand Duchess of Gerolstein is an equal revelation.

Many have commented on the poor tenor. Granted, he is less than the best, but if you listen carefully, he simply does over 90% of the time what even the BEST of Italian opera based tenors do around only 10-15% of the time.

  • Marvellous! Thank you for introducing me to a recording of one of my favourite Verdi's operas I had never heard before

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you ... in a world about to go mad ... the stars shine down via youtube!
