Women's ice hockey is still a relatively new addition to the Olympic movement, first introduced in Nagano, Japan at the 1998 Winter Olympics. This year, the U.S. Women's Hockey team is one of eight squads competing for a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. VOA's Kane Farabaugh has more.

Hockey IS our sport! We love it! Americans are NOT so friendly about girls playing hockey... My daughter was yelled at, from the stands from a "father"..... Whatevs... She took his son out, with a clean hit. He was yelling," take her out, " over and over, but she can skate like the wind, so even if he was trying, he couldn't catch her. She DID however get the tying goal! Those were highschool age kids, I might add....

@MsBryanfreeman then you should tell that too Brezilian soccer fans or soccer fans in general....you dont understand what hockey means too Canada, its more then just a sport its part of the fabric of the country...as far as you calling our national passion for our national game "infantile" you are the idiot
