@gtrefghuk true he was a thick fella. not as tall as the likes of lindros but built well-just not into fighting, just harassing the heck out of opponents with his mouth, body and goal scoring. bastard he was but brilliant playoff performer nonetheless

Rob Ray had a system where he would wear purposely loose fitting equipment, then a fight was breaking out, slip out of all of it to give the opposing player nothing to hold on to. This practice was thought by some to be the introduction of the NHL rule that gives players a game misconduct if their jersey comes off in a fight

I don't think so. Sure, he has turtled before and thrown some cheap shots, but he would also fight at times.
The guy has fought tough customers like Dave Brown, Darin Kimble, Derian Hatcher, Chris Simon, Rob Ray, Darren McCarty, etc.
There are way more agitators who have played the game who don't have a fight card like Lemieux's.

Hmmm... I never once said that he fought well. All I said is that he would fight occasionally (way more against any other agitator in the game today).
