I too had never heard of Hazel Scott until today, when I saw her in the 1943 movie "I dood it". Lena Horne also performed in this movie,and the video show here is from that movie as well . Thanks for posting.

Are you speaking about right wingers such as Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell etc. Or is it Martin Luther King , his dad and grandfather who all were republicans until he went to jail and Kennedy released him if he would change parties. Perhaps you are talking about Lincoln or the North during the civil war The Republican states.Perhaps it was the civil rights bill that passed only because the vast majority of republicans voted for it but not the democrats led by Gore's father.I'm confused.

What an extradordinary talent!!!!!She stood up to right-wing scum and didn't backdown because of her anti-racist views.{Something certain "young"African-American or "colored performers"could take lessons from.}Oh hell some{ middle-aged celebrities could learn} from Hazel Scott also.

Thank you so much for posting this performance! I have never heard of Hazel Scott before until I had watched the documentary "Scandalize My Name: Stories from the Blacklists". Hazel Scott was one of the individuals explained in the documentary. What an EXCELLENT pianist!
