Iron Maiden - Massacre (studio version)
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 1995 bonus disc
Cover of Thin Lizzy "Massacre", Johnny the Fox (Brian Downey, Phil Lynott, Scott Gorham)

Lyrics:

At a point below zero
There's no place left to go
Six hundred unknown heroes
Were killed like sleeping buffalo

Through the devil's canyon
Across the battlefield
Death has no companion
The spirit's lost

There goes the bandolero
Through the hole in the wall
He's a coward but doesn't care
He doesn't care if he lives or if he dies

The general commanding
Defending what we feel
The troops they are depending
On reinforcements from the rear

If God is in his heaven
How come there's no heaven here?
In God's name, they used weapons
For the massacre

At a point below zero
The sun can see the land
Six hundred unknown heroes
Lie dead beneath the sand

(Lyrics appear to be slightly modified from the original by Iron Maiden, this is my interpretation)

  • Thin Lizzy were such a fucking great band that influenced so many other fucking great bands and yet they still get no attention in the states. Fuck you Rock Hall for not Inducting Lizzy or Maiden. There's room for Madonna though right? Bleh.

  • @TallicLizzy that's exactly what my dad did to me :)

  • @samborawakefield Not to mention, why do you think Steve Harris has a mirror pickguard... like PHILIP LYNOTT!! Can you imagine how many times 'arry saw Thin Lizzy growing up as a kid? Lucky guy...

  • this song makes me hard!

  • @MAXVelo1

I've heard The Pressure Will Blow, Bad Habits, and The Holy War on the radio before. I was quite astonished. And yea. Nada. U2, Coldplay, and other hooey pass for rock/hard rock nowadays. :/ Oh no. :o Don't lose your son to the likes of Lil Wayne and others. Just have good music on while he's around and he should pick up on it. :)

  • @TallicLizzy Right on! St Loser, Misery here. Agreed on radio airplay, either Jailbreak or once in a GREAT while, L&D. What about 'Fighting'... 'Nightlife' (altho' I used to hear Showdown in my youth)... 'Black Rose'... What about 'Thunder and Lightning'? An awesome rock song that gets no airplay as opposed to the SHIT that passes for 'rock' these days. I've tried my best to educate my son, but unfortunately... it's spotty. Tried to have him sit in w/ friends to jam on drums, lost!

The united states. Texas to be more specific.

  • @TallicLizzy And where is, "here".Talic...??

  • @MAXVelo1

lol. Well you're one of the few thousands in America that do sir. The only album that gets any attention here is Jailbreak and at times Live And Dangerous. They deserve more attention in the states. LOL! Fuck Bono indeed. xD What a bunch of crap U2 are. No Lizzy no U2. That simple. He said it himself.

  • @TallicLizzy HEY! I'm from the States and LOVED Thin Lizzy since I was 17! Got the "Jailbreak" album cover tattooed on my upper left arm when I was 27 and I still listen AND pass them on to upcoming musicians that I meet. So bullocks to your statement about the States! THIN LIZZY FUCKING RULES!! Fuck the RnR Hall of Shame for putting U2 in BEFORE Thin Lizzy! Fuck Bono! He should lobbying to get them inducted, he's said Live & Dangerous was the most influential album on U2. Pussy...

  • @AnnaCatherineSRB ...Hell Yeah ! :D
