i was always wondering why this boss was living in a lava pool with an electric arc machine over its head. And why the guy who installed the electric arc machine placed the operation buttons so far away from each other and on a place exposed to the monster's fire rocks.

@StrangerQuark You're right. This game was and still is a legend. No matter how technologically advanced are today's graphics, nothing can give the feeling this game had.

I guess talent does not require tera- flop processing monsters, as much as creating inter dimensional portals does not require to have invented light bulbs first.. :)

@parakmi1 That's actually my favourite thing about Quake. I actually felt that everything not making sense but being creepy anyway gave the game a pretty surreal feeling.

@ToxicBarrel I know but this is a scenario flaw to the whole game story. Think of it.The earth is attacked by creatures from another dimension who have mastered the portal technology and use torches for lighting because they haven't inverted light bulbs yet. And this guy.made up from lava without any distinct organs able to resist all kinds of firepower except electricity.

It all makes sense.

But having the buttons of the arc machine put so far away.. that i cannot comprehend.

I used to watch my uncle play this game years ago. He got me into so many great games of the time, Duke Nukem 3D, Redneck Rampage, Atomic Bomberman, Blake Stone, Carmageddon, Doom series, Shadow Warrior etc etc. The old games are the best games.
