i tried to concentrate but couldnt. how the hell can i when im being stared down by three brothers who are incredibly famous and just happen to be my audience? anyone? thought so.

maddy walked over to where i sat on the stage with a sheet of notebook paper in her hand. maddy's the hostess, but tonight they needed her for the waiter staff. everyone was here tonight to help out and i mean EVERYONE. even i had to help out during my break tonight.
grrr.....bryan.....

she walked over and sat next to me onstage.

m:hey! so heres some requests they have but they also wanna hear some of your songs apparently
n:o joy....
m:come on nat!! at least TRY to put your heart into it tonight, ok?
n:idk if i can, those three keep staring me down *points to the brothers*

they saw me point and pretended to be chatting with eachother.
brothers... *scoff*

m:well.....idk just ignore them
n:guess i have to, right?
m:yup!
n:ok..why are you so hyper today????
m:o...no reason...
n:MADDY
m:ok fine.....IM ENGAGED!!!!!!
n:*squeals and jumps up to hug her tight* OMG MADDY!!! CONGRATS!!! andy is a lucky man
m:nat.....uve been my best friend at this place since it opened 5 years ago. i think your the best friend ive ever had. so i was wondering......could u be my maid of honor?
n:WAT?! DUH!!!!
m:yay =]
n:u sure?
m:yup!
n:i cant wait to tell sarah and amanda!!
m:i kno!!!!! theyll be so excited!!!!! can u tell them i want them to be my bridesmaids?
n:ya!!!!

(someone calls for maddy)

m:gotta go! but remember.....just go with the flow tonight.
n:thanks maddy
m: *smiles* no prob

i looked at the song list. just random songs i knew, simple ones really. i rumaged (AN once again....rumage rumage rumage!!) through my messenger bag to find some of my songs that might be ok. i found a couple that sounded alright. once id warmed up i headed to the bar.

jason was sitting there doing some tricks for the kid i assumed was frankie.

j:hey nat! pull up a stool and ill get u a shirley (lol yummy...)
n:thanx jason
f:ur pretty
n: *turns and gets to his eye level* well thank you.

i grabbed my coke and then turned around.

n:*whispers* frankie
f: *perks up and turns around*
n:*smiles and blows him a kiss*

frankie giggled and i went back to work. when i went to see if THEY were staring again, joe was only laughing and nick was sulking. hmmm....weird

soon the show started and i played all their requests. i played some of my own and spent my break waiting on the guests.

funnn....

i took my things back upstairs and changed into jeans, a tshirt and a huge college sweatshirt of my brother's.
then i headed downstairs and started to go throught the restaurant for the front door.
unfortunately the guys were still here.
ok i know i say it like its a bad thing but nick was giving me weird looks all night.
joe was actually pretty hilarious and both kevin and him came over to talk to me after i was done. they thought i was really good.
i asked them what was up with nick. they didnt really know but he was probably jealous of frankie.
then it hit me
o god.....now i know why those looks were weird to me.....

but i put that out of my head. i cant think about guys right now, let alone guys like him. he belongs with miley or selena. not a girl like me.
wait a second WHAT THE HELL AM I SAYING?? i dont even like him!!!

right?

i headed out the front door to see nick standing there.

boy what GREAT timing he has

he looked over at me and smiled

nj:u were really good
na: *smiles despite herself* thanx. ur not too bad urself
nj: *laughs a little* eh, well, according to the rest of the world.
na:thats not really a bad thing
nj:well, theres only one opinion im interested in
na:and whose would that be?

he looked at me rather intensely then. almost like he was studying me and then, if i turned out ok, he would give his answer. then he turned away.

nj:i only need the opinion of the girl i fall for

that makes sense. but now hes looking at me again. and i guess im studying him too. we're standing in silence, taking eachother in. trying to understand whats going on.

then the thing i wanted the LEAST to break the silence was the voice of amanda calling my name.
