I just love it !!

@lorgain2 I think it is also about a girl being thrown out of her house for getting pregnant...maybe not...it is part of the irish language play An Triail about the 'trial' of a young girl who gets pregnant outside marriage....clearly seems to be set in the period you mentioned as well. Great track anyway!

I notice that sometimes the word "suil" is pronounced as it is supposed to be in English, but in other gaelige songs, like this one, its pronounced as 'shuil", so is this a difference of accents or what? I'm curious.=D

Mary Balck is The Singing Goddess Of All Heavenly Angels. By the way, I think that when God thought of introducing MUSIC to the Human Race, I think he had no choice but to choose The Irish As The Best Singers of his entire Creation.

Mary Black's rendition of this song accompanied by Altan is so beautiful it has had me in tears. This rendition of this song should be recorded on a CD. I would buy several copies.
This song is about The Wild Geese who joined up with the armies of the European mainland after 1690 and in this case her lover was off to France.
To be used as cannon-fodder for the royal despots.
