After cleaning everything else with baking soda and vinegar- the sink, toilet, bathtub, refrigerator-, I was motivated to try out my favorite green cleaners on my hair. I used baking soda as shampoo and vinegar as a rinse and found my new look surprising. • loved your hair! Looks healthy, lighter and out of build up...Right now gonna try using baking soda and apple cider vinegar (now that I'm running out of shampoo), do you know whats the difference between using red wine vinegar vs apple cider one?

  • @shiroirobin I have no idea the difference between red wine vinegar and apple cider though the red wine vinegar I had seemed to work, though I don't think it's what most DIY shampoo recipes call for.

  • Aren't you supposed to wet your hair before the BS wash?

  • @unhappytomato You're right. Most people wet their hair first and I do sometimes, but it doesn't make much of a difference if I wet it first or wet it after.

  • did the baking soda bleach your hair some?

  • @zizzyzam I do think it looked a bit lighter afterward in the video, though in general I don't think it's gotten lighter. Though I've read other people say it can. Though I'm not sure if using a vinegar rinse neutralizes the alkaline of the baking soda and makes it less likely to lighten. Well, this is beyond my chemistry knowledge obviously.

  • I also use a sage infusion(make a tea out of sage leaves)it's supposed to prevent the grey hair.Your hair will go through a detox period which might take 4 wks,but hang in there it really works.

  • I have been washing with bs and acv for 4 yrs,and I put 1Tbsp bs in an old shampoo bottle(355ml) and fill it with water-this lasts 4-6 washings. If you put bs directly you will end up with residue(white stuff) build up.You want to put enough till it feels slippery and the key is to really use your fingertips to massage the scalp.I don't wash the length, then rinse with cooler water.I do the same with the vinegar except I use the whole thing and don't rinse it out.

  • This is the weirdest Youtube video I have ever seen

  • @faircompanies You need to wet your hair first.

  • @shiroirobin apple cider cleans better ( adds more shine) and doesnt look as weird haha

  • @JNathanK2011 i am talking about soap from the store, there are few companies that produce soap without SLS and you can wash your hair safe, believe me the laundry soap that my grandmother used for body wash and was poored on the ground, the soil was full of bushes

  • @andreilucaci81 I really would like to learn how to render my left over cooking fat to make shampoo and body soap. It seems like a waste to have to put it in a plastic bottle and throw it away.

  • I've been using Baking Soda on my hair for years, here's now I've done it. With my shaker bottle of baking soda I pour about 1/8th cup into my hands making a paste with a bit of water or a squirt of Dr. Bronners Baby (no scent) soap and apply to "wet" hair. I start at the crown and work down to the ends, rinse with water. I mix about 1/4 or less cup of apple cider vinegar (promotes healthy ph balance) with about 3/4 cups of warm shower water and pour on hair. I do rinse that out too.

  • one vid told me to put a spoonful of soda in some shampoo
