http://www.americaspower.org Republican Presidential Candidate Senator John McCain endorses the use of clean coal technologies at public forum in Des Moines, Iowa.
Coal liquification is a dirty option, but when the choice becomes CTL vs. mass famine, the choice will be "clean coal". No one thing will solve this problem, and solar and wind are great, but the liquid fuels problem is the most pressing. We need these to me ramping up these plants now to fuel tractors, locomotives, and make fertilizers to prevent mass famine. Solar, wind, & nuclear can help generate electricity but they won't solve the fuel problem, and biofuels are not mature enough to scale.
