Topdoozie, I am afraid you were misinformed on a few things about the operation. The temperature clamps do not calibrate nor do they need to sit at ambient for any amount of time prior to using the unit. They come calibrated. The heat pump mode does not protect the unit. It is a software setting only. The pressure transducers cannot be damaged in anyway by reversing the valve. Jim Bergmann (past technical specialist for Testo inc.) Co Owner TruTech Tools.

Thanks Fritz,from what I understand just set it and forget it in the auto function. Does not make sense why testo would not set it from the factory this way. Of course techs want this feauture
