a new short film by TON SISON
Official Selection:
FLICKERINGS FILM SHOWCASE 2009 (Illinois)
WASHOUGAL INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2009 (Washington)
Synopsis:
Missionary priest Padre Salvador gets up one morning, drinks his coffee, and just leaves. His life. His family. His property. And his best friend Erik.
Erik would find out that Padre Salvador had left on a mission to the South American town of Nueva Guernica where a giant U.S.-owned metal smelter is wreaking havoc on the environment, killing the river, and endangering the very life force of the local community. As Padre Salvador immerses in the community's protest actions, a melee with the authorities ensues. Luzmila, the town's oldest storyteller, is pushed into the river and the good priest dives in to save her. Neither of them survives to tell the story.
By the lake in Chicago, Erik pieces together the subversive memory of his friend and sees him dancing... on water.
DANCING ON WATER, official selection, 2009 Flickerings Film Showcase (Cornerstone Festival, Illinois).
