Just a few clips of the Blue Angels and the Snowbirds at the Toronto CNE Air Show Saturday Sept 5, 2009.

Still pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scotteh/

Video taken with the Samsung H106. I learned a few things about this camera doing this show:

1. There is no viewfinder, just an LCD. That's a BIG problem on sunny days because all you can see is your own face reflected in the LCD screen. That's why I can't track the planes very well. I can't see them!!

2. This camera doesn't focus very well at night OR on sunny days! Best to always start zoomed out so it can find focus first before zooming in.

3. Turn image stabilization off when tracking moving objects!! If you leave it on, you get a stuttering effect!

4. Even though this is a very small camera, it still gets heavy holding it for a few minutes! Especially when you're tracking something around the sky and trying to do that as smoothly as possible.

  • The jittering could be from the combo of being zoomed + image stabilization turned on. Good video!

  • I hear what you're saying about using these LCD cameras! You can't see anything in the view finder in the bright sunlight. I was going crosseyed trying to see the planes, one eye looking at the LCD, one at the moving target. :-)

  • I saw a duck.
