This is the release vid of the big red caught in Part 1. I removed the reel from my rod and got a fairly accurate length on the fish by measuring her against the length of my rod. She was definitely a 50"er. I couldn't lift her from the water so I don't really know what she weighed.

  • Ive eaten alot of redfish and they have a decent taste. Definately not my favorite, as ive eaten alot of different fishes, but is good if cooked right. My favorite would be to fry the redfish filletes and make fish tacos. Best tasting fish in texas inshore saltwater is hands down the flounder, also cooked as a fish taco. I doubt you could keep that 50 incher but it depends on the state and it wouldnt taste very good because big reds are mushy. Besides let it spawn and make more big reds.

  • Thats a beautiful red! I would catch much smaller redfish from a kayak at night in texas cannals using little crabs (about 3-5" in width) or small mullet under a glowing bobber with a bell while i casted out a lure with another pole, watching the bober always. Was fairly successful especially in the days before hurricane Dolly hit and even caught a monster (in my opinion) 42" red. cant use small bait however, due to ladyfish

  • @MusicMaker451 here in louisisana we can keep 5 redfish from 16 to 27 inches and 1 over 27 inches and we don't need a tag

  • @jaddison1112 Redfish is great but that one was way to big to keep

  • @SkidinDingo it texas any redfish has to be from 20 to 28 inches to keep, yu are allowed to keep one redfish over 28 inches with a tag which comes with yur texas fishing license, im not sure about laws in other states,

  • @jaddison1112 yes people eat redfish. i hear its pretty good but i have never tried it also im pretty sure it needs to be above 16 inches and below 28 inches to keep but im not sure because i usualy fish freshwater
