@annerenzo Don't forget Aretha Franklin, Grace Slick and Tina Turner who Janis loved to death! Janis was one helluva woman and her band was the bomb! What happened to Big and Holding Company? Her guitarist licks were killers!

Great video! Thanks for the upload. :)

Janis was a total multi-tasker. Whether it was gritty soul, full-tilt boogie rock (see what I did there?), earthy funk or down-and-dirty, gutbucket blues, she did it, and she did it with style, class, soul and a swagger unmatched by today's "music scene". She IS the definition of a total badass.

too bad they were so against lighting

@illbebad ----the show was aired on KQED PBS station in san francisco its a great whole show that I'm sure is on DVD its a great one because they were all so fresh and young and "the scene" was still flourishing

just imagine this in color.
i bet that set was the place to be when tripping on acid, and actually being there when janis joplin and big brother were rocking, that's just pure bliss.
Only 2 ladies can belt it. Janis and Billie Holiday. Rock on and RIP. UR the best.

this was a show on san francisco KQED public TV - aired in 1966 , they also had similar projects grateful dead jefferson airplane etc but in my opinion this is the best its so early psychedelic before the powers that be whispered sweet nothings in janis's ear and gave her the impression she'd be better without "the holding company" .... She actually only brought her guitarist the really cute one with her to full tilt boogie and her later band on Pearl etc sam....???
