Andrew Kooman at TEDxRedDeer, Alberta, Canada, October 20, 2011.

What happens when we dare, as individuals, communities and societies to go to the dangerous places and open our eyes to human need - then reach out our hands with compassion? A starting point is to connect individuals to stories, both real and imagined, that open our eyes and hearts and move our feet into life-changing, meaningful action.

With a scene from Andrew Kooman's play "She Has a Name", with Lisa Spencer, Christopher Schulz, and James Popoff from Burnt Thicket Theatre.

Film directed by Nick Saik.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.*
