Written by Jessie May Robinson for Elviss 1957 movie Loving You. Elvis recorded two versions of it in February 1957 at Radio Recorders-one for the film and one for record release. The song was sung several times in the movie. Wanda Jackson recorded a cover version in 1960. This version is available on Loving You and The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters.

And The Collins Kids' version was released the same year as Elvis'; they performed it on "Town Hall Party" the same year, to a national TV audience.

In 1964, The Rivieras did a great version of "Party" as well, upon which Boston's garage rock revivalists, The Lyres, based their sweaty, white soul version (complete with a Vox Continental organ).

It's a great tune any way one slices it, so would be pretty hard to not sound good, if done competently..
