I let the 1st version bounce around in my head for a few days, then sat down and played it on the piano. After listening again to the recording, in comparison, his is much less complicated than mine. His is crisp, clear, pure, and simple. Beautiful! I still don't see why his version could ever be considered over-complicated. Any input would be helpful.

It would really help if someone could explain why this would sound over-complicated. I've always been of the opinion that its beauty lies in its simplicity..basic harmony..thirds, fourths, fifths above the melody. Grace notes around the melody. I, IV, V7 chords..etc. Just basic, beautiful, crystal clear harmony to me. Help me somebody, please. What am I missing?
