Chapter 7 "Repetition"

Its starts with Bella wondering WHY she's letting herself feel the pain and difficulty of missing Edward. She thinks it's really strange how the day felt like repetition and the coincidence that it was a year after her first day. Bella realizes that she simply wants to hear Edward's voice again - the perfect, crisp tone unlike the echoes of his voice in her memory. She thinks that she might need deja vu in order to get back the voice, so she takes off driving towards the Cullen's house ...

It is pretty obvious. Sam was the first to change, which means he had to be the leader, at least until Jacob phased. They can't all just be like " The Black's are the leaders so lets just do whatever we want.Until he phases" It only makes sence

SPOILER ALERT! becuase in book 3 when jacob is a wearwolf he is SUPPOSED to be and alpha but he dosent want to step up.

Sam was first to change, and whn Jacob phased, he didn't wanna be leader.

cause jacob isnt in the pack yet and when he is.... he doesnt want to be the leader. only later in breaking dawn jacob starts to realize he should be the leader, leaves with friend/brother seth and later gets reunited with frenemy leah.

I think Sam is being treated as a Tribe elder instead of Jacob is because Sam seems quite a strong leader and quite muscular and maybe the others think he is quite leaderish LOL

Sam being treated like a Tribe Elder/Leader because he was the first one of the Quiluetes to turn into a werewolf and he knows how to deal with what the others will soon be going through. He works with the tribe elders and leaders to help those that are turning and also to help with patrolling the boarders of the reservation to keep the vampires out and to also protect the werewolf secret from everyone else in Forks.
