  • Real Slater, These slate style tiles are made from recycled plastics. Specifically from the type of plastic in 2 litre soda bottles. The damage to the environment has already been done. The idea of our house is to re-use items, or recycle materials that would normally go to a landfill or incinerator. I am not sure what you mean when you say "all new synthetics have already failed" but I can assure ours have not yet let water through or cause a problem.

  • it's one thing to use plastic slate but it's very disrespectful to refer to it as slate. please refer to it as plastic. i don't know what your "earthship" is, but that synthetic roof has a very negative effect on our environment, not to mention no matter what brand it is, ALL of the new synthetics have already failed.
