  • I've been in the press corps for the three years that Yvo has been running things, and have watched him closely. The guy conducts himself with more class and composure than I can ever hope to have, while keeping an encyclopedic amount of shape-shifting information in his head and communicating it without bias. He's a class act all the way -- unlike the knuckleheads who confronted him here, who themselves are not representative of most NGOs folks, the majority of whom are doing a good job.

  • I thought it was outrageous that he excluded the NGOs until I saw this; he is in fact stuck between a rock and a hard place because the Danes didn't select a big enough venue for this massively important event. For better or worse, the point of this exercise is a government agreement, so government leaders have to attend. Their attitudes will be determined by their perceived interests --misguided as they may be -- not by the imprecations of activists, who should yield now and pounce later.

  • LMAO! "massively important event????" Surely you aren't talking about the "global warming BULLSHIT" are you? There's another crap article that's titled "threat of un process collapse if "global warming" isn't dealt with in years time. Youknow why it isn't being dealt with?? BECAUSE iT DOESN'T EXIST! It's a cycle, PERIOD! That's why the world doesn't care! F*^K the "un"

  • second part of my comment

This wasn't anything to do with numbers, FoE (and a few other groups) were specifically singled out for all their delegation to be banned. Other groups were not singled out in this way.

When challenged the UN gave a variety of excuses for the ban.

After much lobbying the UN finally offered 12 people entry. This was not considered acceptable and FoE left.

The UN threatened the media with withdrawal of their cards if they interviewed FoE about the ban.

  • As usual some are commenting without being aware of the facts.

Friends of the Earth were aware of the pressure on numbers and had obtained second cards for their delegation. These cards were supposed to be to allow people who had one to enter. They are the cards which are being held up.

The UN then decided to make all the cards for FoE invalid, but didn't bother to tell FoE this. Having queued up for a long time the delegation were then told, one by one, that their card was invalid.

  • thejon: cooperation from who? noisemaking extra-democratic brats?

You lot can't come anywhere NEAR getting elected with your arrogant BS, yet you think elected officials and their assistants should do what you say.

It's not a matter of being "elite", it's a matter of the criteria by which to you purport to speak for others. By definition NGO only speak for themselves.

  • It's only a matter of time before the "demonstrators" riot. That's what they are there for.

  • Yvo, YOU insulted the people first, giving privilege to people calling themselves elite, while shoving aside the non-elite folk.. Expect to get the sort of reaction you deem as insulting back. It is now no longer relevant whether the people care about climate change or not. Thanks for your approach. You can't expect cooperation now. Good day.

  • Have a look the movie: "Clima Embolado"
