TOP 10 REASONS TO SUPPORT H.R. 676, THE U.S. NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE ACT
1. Everybody In, Nobody Out. Universal means access to health care for everyone, period. 2. Portability. If you are unemployed, or lose or change jobs, your health coverage stays with you. 3. Uniform Benefits. No Cadillac plans for the wealthy and Pinto plans for everyone else, with high deductibles, limited services, caps on payments for care, and no protection in the event of a catastrophe. One level of comprehensive care for everyone, regardless of the size of your wallet. 4. Prevention. By removing financial roadblocks, a universal health system encourages preventive care that lowers an individual's ultimate cost and pain and suffering when problems are neglected and societal cost in the over-utilization of emergency rooms or the spread of communicable diseases. 5. Choice. Most private insurance restricts your choice of providers and hospitals. Under the U.S. National Health Insurance Act, patients have a choice, and the provider is assured a fair payment. 6. No Interference with Care. Caregivers and patients regain their autonomy to decide what's best for a patient's health, not what's dictated by the billing department. No denial of coverage for preexisting conditions or cancellation of policies for "unreported" minor health problems. 7. Reducing Waste. One third of every private health insurance dollar goes for paperwork and profits, compared to about 3% under Medicare, the federal governments universal system for senior citizen healthcare. 8. Cost Savings. A guaranteed health care system can produce the cost savings needed to cover everyone, largely by using existing resources without the waste. Taiwan, shifting from a U.S. private health care model, adopted a similar system in 1995, boosting health coverage from 57% to 97% with little increase in overall health care spending. 9. Common Sense Budgeting. The public system sets fair reimbursements applied equally to all providers, private and public, while assuring that appropriate health care is delivered, and uses its clout to negotiate volume discounts for prescription drugs and medical equipment. 10. Public Oversight. The public sets the policies and administers the system, not high priced CEOs meeting in private and making decisions based on their companys stock performance needs.

2.Freedom of choice should come first, no plan should be mandated. Any plan that is mandated for All Americans must include our representatives in Washington. If you are going to take our freedom to choose away, you must deny it for yourselves as well. To insure whatever plan you foist upon the common man is fair to all you must equally participate in it to. You are our representatives; you can not be expected to represent us if you exclude yourselves from participation
Do you know what you're talking about, or just parroting nonsense?
What plan is being "mandated"?
What "freedoms" are going to be taken away by providing a CHOICE other than the private insurance in which we're FORCED into today?
Over 8 million federal employees, including congress, has long enjoyed their own health care plan which will not drop them for illness or pre-existing conditions, nor do they risk bankruptcy like the rest of us. Why aren't you demanding a plan like theirs?
Jesus: Currently today you are not forced into anything, if your employer offers health insurance, you can choose to purchase it or not. Even if your employer doesnt offer health insurance, you can buy it on the open market, it's too bad you can purchase interstate plans, but that is one of the "real fixes" for the current system that obama refuses to even talk about.
If you're under 65 and want health insurance, you're FORCED to buy from private insurers which take over 30% of every premium dollar for overhead, while Medicare is only 4%. Insurers are reaping record profits while premiums increased 150% in this decade, with rising deductibles, co-pays, and coinsurance amounts. Combined with lower maximum coverages, out-of-network penalties, denied treatments, and dropped coverage for any reason they like, they're killing us & driving 80% of all bankruptcies!
The interstate issue is smoke & mirrors, direct from the insurers' strategy rooms designed to confuse the public into keeping this nightmare of a system in which they profit so greatly. It's so wrong on so many levels (and would NOT reduce costs) that I'm surprised you even try to use it. Do some research on your own for a change, and stay away from Faux news.
agreed. and i applaud you for hanging in there with this guy. i gave up quickly .couldnt understand his reasoning or find any logic. just figured some of the usual vile, cursing and hateful name-calling wouild start shortly. most of the opposers do that when you disagree with them and try to correct the misinformation that they are using as a selling point for their view. absolutely right off the FAUX hate-monger's "news" program.wonder which one is his fav-hannity,beck,or oreilly.
same for cars- the govt makes me have auto ins. and home-owner's ins. and businesses have to have workman's comp ins. and isnt that the point- " no citizen is better, liberty for all and such? health care reform seeks to give everyone access to health care. not just some people, as it is now and has been forever. right now,if you dont have ins. and you get sick and use a health care facility, others have to pay for it. ,hence, manditory coverage. and- illegals r not covered under the reform
"health care reform seeks to give everyone access to health care. not just some people" In this country "everyone" has acess to healthcare, by law. Even people who are in this country illegally, have the legal right to healthcare, why the hell do you think they are here and not there? DO YOU THINK THEY WOULD BE HERE, IF THEY COULD SCREW THEIR OWN COUNTRY LIKE THEY SCREW OURS?
WHAT IS THE POINT? some kind of new conspiracy that the insurance wont be any good ,therefore, why would we want it? there has to be some kind of crap of the week and this must be it. congress has a great plan, many great plans to choose from right now. much better than yours. better than medicare, medicaid. and V.A. were you concerned about this before? did you protest " why wont congress make themselves use the same ins. they designed for the military, or medicare or medicaid? but now-
