  • "No Muttley, we can't win fairly! We are villains, ergo we have to cheat"

Sums up my feelings about the original series. He gets far enough ahead to set up those traps but instead of just winning he fucks himself over.

That being said, this is well done, but it doesn't even feel like a pilot. This feels like one of those shorts CN would use to fill time between shows.

  • ...yeah, it looks kinda awesome but I can see why this didn't get picked up, it strikes me as losing a lot of the charm of the original- as cheap and stock as it was, the show had a real campy charm with the racers being relatively sporting and polite to each other even when things got rough. And the announcer, they can't go without the announcer.

Funny that Peter Perfect and Penelope Pitstop got married, but I don't know how pushing a plotline with their kids would go. They seem like brats.

  • The flash animation isn't so hot and I don't like the character designs like, at all. It's too bad, I love Wacky Races and it would be neat for there to be a new incarnation of such a classic, but I'm glad this wasn't picked up.

  • wheres the army sir plus & wheres the Mobs?

  • I would very much prefer to keep the old cartoons that were not so blatantly desperate to target a specific profile of audience. Forcing things this way makes a series turn into a consumable, a simple product destined to fade away. That, and the fact that everything is competing for attention in each cell... learn from the classics and relearn taste, color and hierarchy!

  • I do kind of have to admit, I'm glad this wasn't picked up. Sander Schwartz had a terrible habit of ruining the classics when he was president at Warner Bros. Animation (look at "What's New Scooby-Doo" or the 2003 Looney Tunes shorts like "The Whizzard of Ow" or "Museum Scream" to see what I mean!)

Now that he's gone, maybe this show would've been better?

  • @peckenhamm123 "Boring, poorly animated"? Wacky Races was a cool, funny show. Definitely a classic cartoon. I don't see why you'd say that.

  • @warningfellow I know, I know. I have nothing against your version whatsoever. I was only thinking up ideas as well and they weren't meant to get in the way.

  • @DynamoCrimson Well DynamoCrimson its nice but there is a problem my version will not have this viceroy corporation, will not have his racers to demolish wacky racers and will not have this perfect industries plot thing, this idea of mine will stay true to the original series although the Penelope marrying to peter perfect stays.

  • @Cheeseaddicteddaleks

Actually, the slag brothers talk in other episodes. one says "wheel gone" in episode 17. it's on youtube.

  • One thought: the major reason the old cartoon worked was because, all in all, it was really "about" Dick Dastardly and Muttley; they got more screentime than anyone else. The WRF pilot didn't work because it took the focus away from those two and made the show "about" other stuff.

  • @warningfellow I think those are really good suggestions and maybe Cartoon Network can do something about that (if they want to that is).

Plus, I got some ideas for this series too. I was thinking Viceroy could bring in a group of his own racers and try to deter the Wacky Racers off and better his chance to take over Perfect Industries. One of the racers happens to be named Sylvester Sneakly (descendant) aka The Hooded Claw who has a grudge against Piper Perfect.
