In January 2010, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) hosted
an earthquake summit in Carterville for local officials from throughout
Illinois. Speakers at the summit focused on how a major earthquake
would impact the region and what communities can do to prepare.

outlined IDOT's plan for ensuring the safety of the transportation
infrastructure following an earthquake.
