@ajaake There are significant points in time where he has little or no control over the piece while the blade is spinning (e.g. 6:41). It's infinitely easier to just slide your insert along the fence which you've lined up to the edge of the insert's receiver (with your factory insert in place, of course) to cut it. Then plug up the back of the cut with a shim you've sanded into a wedge which acts as a splitter.

How is this not safe? Hey knows were the blade is, fingers are on the edge, and the other side is held in place by the fence.
