2009 was one of the toughest hunting seasons I've ever experienced. During bow season I saw plenty, but most were out of bow range. I shot at a coyote with my bow and missed twice! Rifle season got off to a very rough start as well. The weather was unseasonably warm, and from opening day on a Saturday to the following Tuesday we had 6 inches of rain. I didn't see my first deer during rifle season til Monday night! We had plenty of fresh sign on our property, but they seemed to be completely nocturnal. Anyways, I promised to take my daughters hunting, so on the second weekend of rifle season we went up. Haley (7) and Abigail (5) both got a day of hunting with me. Haley and I harvested a really nice doe on Saturday the 21st of November. She was 160-170 lbs live weight and was 145 lbs dressed. We had a wonderful time, and I am hoping that they will continue to enjoy the heritage that is big game hunting in America.

  • DAMN! that was one hell of a shot man, I shot a pretty good doe on the first or second day of the 09 season in Moniteau county, this season I saw a Monster buck but I couldn't get a good shot, it was about 300 yards through some thick trees and didn't see anything else. Good luck to all the other hunters out there
