This video is a response to every person who voted for me during the Wow Canada Contest.. that I won! I seriously couldn't have done it without any of you. Whether you voted every day or only once, this video can be directed toward you. This is my first arrangement of a tune that I arranged for my barbershop quartet Rendezvous. This is "I'll Be Seeing You". There was an existing barbershop arrangement of this tune... but it sucked! It didn't suck.. it was just too.. barbershoppy? This song has some magnificent chords but being stuck to the barbershop style really limits the sounds and note choices and the intended feeling of the song was lost. I did a little bit of reharmonizing and created a new melody for the second verse (repeated). I borrowed a lot of techniques from barbershop arranging, but branched off into some more dissonant vocal jazz voicings as well.

I hope you enjoy it, it took me a loooooong time to finish this arrangement!

The second verse's melody is a adaptation of a theme from Final Fantasy... I can't remember which one or where, (likely VII-IX) but it was stuck in my head and made for a really cool sound. Let me know!!

Recorded on my 2.16 Ghz Macbook. Audio recorded and edited in Logic Pro 9. Video edited and synced in Final Cut Express 4. Videos recorded in HD on Canon Powershot SD600. Mic is a APEX 435 cardioid condenser and preamp is an M-Audio Mobile PreUSB.

You are fantastic! can you please tell me how you do it? I mean, do you record the lead and then the other voices, do you listen to something while you are singing, or do you read the music the entire time? And how do you manage to stay in tune?
