When I was a kid Boston was a violent and very racist town. Every night we were in the NBC news for riots in wake of the school desegration. When I joined the navy we were treated like royalty down south , they called us " The Little Rock of the North ". Today Boston is one of the most liberal differsifyed cities in the Union, man talk about historical change before your eyes!

once upon a time (1979?) people grew up kind of segregated in new york city, we (I'm from NY) basically stuck with our own kind , the world was a little different back then. that's why in NYC there's Chinatown,little italy, Harlem,Spanish Harlem,williamsburg,etc.etc.

@Meody I agree with you on that. I don't know why they put these lyrics in the song. They might as well ahve included. Italians, Native Americans, and Hispanics. Just doesn't make sense to me to add those words. Guess they could not think of anything to write in that one part of the song.

give it a break people it was the 70's just comming off of the civil rights movement and people thought differently and the person who sings this is black for the record.
why are blacks, jews or gays are looked down as bad ppl?? this is why our soceity is so screwed.. Im black & I would never judge anybody by the labels this world puts on them. let's LOVE not HATE!
