WMM Vs. Vegas Vs. The Bitching Queens

NOTE: Names haven't been mentioned. It doesn't matter who started it or did whatever. It's about the general thing, not who said what.

Ok, as many of you noticed, for a few months, there have been some tension between WMMers and people that use...anything else. There were lots of things said by users responding to a video on the subject:

-WMM was the original AMV program
-Vegas users are all about effects and WMM is "pure talent"
-References to the so-called "Youtube legends" being WMM users
-People switching to Vegas (from WMM) because of popularity of people "forcing" them to change
(we also talk about other irksome things in AMVs, such as how subscribers aren't a measure of quality and how irritating blinding flashes are)

Now, being a Vegas user, naturally I feel rather struck and alienated by this.

ShadowSmiffDemon and I got together to do a rant, since apparently this stuff is still going on. We don't generalize an AMV or the maker by the program used, and it doesn't matter who did what, or what program they used. We don't support people bluntly/rudely telling people that WMM AMVs automatically suck or how the user should switch too.

Discussion is allowed as long as it's kept mature and civil. I will not be closing this video because of fights, because discussion and debate is healthy as long as rules are followed. Don't make me send Izumi on you.

I'm a wmm vidder and I've been making fan videos for over four years now. I don't have a problem with the sony vegas users, I've seen beautiful creativity from that program to know why people love using it. For me it is concerning competitions by people that say they judge 'fairly', when I ask to enter, they turn me away.

I don't like that either. If someone on WMM wants to compete, they should. Can't believe someone would be a bonehead and actually turn you away. One of my best friends on Youtube has always used WMM and many of her videos are fantastic.

what i find annoying is when on WMM if u use effects ppl throw all sorts of shit at u, but if u use vegas and overload effects ppl dont seem to notice -_-'

I've noticed it a little too, but in all fairness, effect abuse is effect abuse to my friends and I. It happens on both sides, and it sadly might just depend on popularity and other factors.

That's your opinion *shrugs*. Personally, I find an EXCESS use of effects and flashes makes a video an annoying, distracting eyesore (as Shado said, several AMV judges at conventions think that too). If I had to pick between the two extremes, I would choose a video that has has good lyric/mood matching and story than one that had none and was an exhibition of effects and flashes.

it isn't the program that matters, it's how you put your heart and soul into making your AMVS. I wish other people would stop fighting over such a pointless thing.

Vegas was first created in 2000 *found on Wiki* :D so thanks for pointing out that WMM isn't the original program but still great video and points

Agreed. I use WMM and sometimes I feel that I'm alienated because MEPs and Studios and contest want Sony Vegas Users, but that's not the point. I do agree that it's the person NOT the program! A person can make a good AMV on both programs and put the same amount of dedication and work into it. I agree fully on the effect thing too, because I'm a raw editor and only use effects if necessary. (Meaning they match with the song, and make the AMV interesting without blinding you.) Good rant overall!

i mad that i made a project on wmm (but i've posted it on my youtube page) but when i went back to look through it again to mess around with it, all of my clips in the storyboard crashed T_T

Ahh, I use WMM because its free and I'm broke. I'd actually like to learn Vegas and Adobe and all but I cant get ahold of them and someone to help me out a bit. I taught myself WMM but I tried that with Vegas (trial) and I didnt have enough time to figure it out.
