  • Can you do a review on the Sony 50mm F/1.4?

I am really wanting to purchase it but I have no money.

  • Sorry, I have no immediate plans to test this lens, but you can see some resolution results from it in our 10 Mpixel group test at the cameralabs website.

  • I think the most important question, at least to me... how does this compare with nikon d300... sony vs nikon?

    what would you recomend?

  • You'll have to wait for our D300 review!

  • Hi Gordon! I'm new to digital photography and planning to have my dslr next month. I'm considering a100 or a700. I need a camera which I can grow with considering that I'm planning to focus on documentary photography and photojournalism. Between these two, which one would you recommend for me and what lenses are essential for these fields? I need your help...

  • Hi poy78, it depends on your budget and what features you want - and which you prefer the look and feel of. We've got quite a few A100 owners and A700 fans on the Cameralabs forum if you fancy joining and asking there about bodies and lenses...

  • A very fair review. I like Gordon Laing - he's a top bloke! I'm thinking of getting the A700, you know. At the moment I have the A200 and it's a great little camera for the money. Toodle-pip. Nads :)

  • WTF are all you NIKON fanboys talking about? You do know that SONY supplies the image sensors to nikon. THEY USE THE SAME SENSORS!

Change the way you shoot pictures with Sony's new Translucent Mirror Technology DSLR camera. The SLT-A55V Alpha DSLR camera features professional-grade continuous shooting at 10 fps and visibly faster, more accurate focus in Live View and HD Movie modes. • I'm very curious how the A77 will do as this camera's successor. One thing I'm unsure about is this translucent mirror technology. However, on paper, it sounds like the A77 is one heck of a package. It'll be interesting to see how it does in practice.

  • Great review, Gordon! I have this camera and I can't fault it :)

  • I'm a beginner and I have this camera, and I'm going to 70 - 200mm G lens

  • Hey, visit Cameralabs(.com) it's a great forum!

  • I'm talking about the body itself, and canon is a liar, some of their USM models are slower than screw drive lenses, they are only less noisy.

But, yes, Sony SSM is barely used now, tough the new lenses are starting to use it (like the 70-300 G, which isn't too expensive)

  • I have no idea,

even is it does canon and nikona hace got more

    USM/SWM at NORMAL price...

  • Well, in regard of the focusing speed, the A700 is faster than both Canon 40D and D300
