Furby Commercial (30-second variant, 1998)

This was part of series of very funny advertisements from 1998-1999 for Furbies. I especially like the Barbie-esque music and the Furbies making that weird "Uka, uka, uka, uka!" noise when they pop on near the girl. This is the rare original 30-second variation, with an extended version of that "Furby, he's amazing me!" tune, and more clips (there's even a BOY in this commercial instead of it being all girls, like most Furby commercials would have!) This was for the original generation of six Furby colors.

Three 15-second versions were produced as well, two of which I uploaded. Some of the stock footage of the Furby close-ups and the girls' reactions were used in those versions. Sometimes the final shot of the Furbies had them moving, but the version here uses a still graphic instead.

BTW, one of the girls involved with this video was a young Melissa McIntyre!

I just got a 2012 Furby from Target the day after September 11th. It's the purple one, and I named it Huruhuruchan. I'm enjoying it so far. Wiley, do you plan on getting it?

Also, did they have to pull the Furby commercials when the craze occured? I watched an ABC News video about Cabbage Patch Kids, and they said in 1983, ads for the doll were pulled due to the craze, AND THEY SHOWED THE AD AS THEY SAID THIS! If the Furby ad was pulled, it would be deja vu. So was it?
